The Green the Grid guide has hit the streets in and is also available online (above). Green the Grid will also co-sponsor numerous green events this year, starting with midtown's first Green the Grid Art Walk on April 12th. Pick up the Green The Grid maps at any of our 200+ locations throughout the Midtown Sacramento area. Check the blog for regular updates: Green Second Saturday and the Earth Day Festival were both tremendous successes. > Check out our Sustainable Living Directory |

California Earth Day |
The Earth, Water, Air & Soil Foundation invites you to join us in celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 19, 2008 in Discovery Park. The California Earth Day Run & Walk will be a great event for runners, walkers and kids. It should be a green Spring in Discovery Park, where the American River meets the Sacramento River. Help us raise money for environmental education, conservation, and restoration efforts in the Greater Sacramento area. Please also consider bringing a lunch and helping with the river clean-up. |

| "2,784 commuters bicycled 369,095 miles to work in May 2007. If they had chosen to drive to work instead of bicycling, they would have generated 5,216 lbs of air pollution, 343,022 lbs of global-warming carbon dioxide, and burned 17,653 gallons (two tanker trucks) of fuel." | |
| "The mission of the Whole Earth Festival is to envision and create a community driven festival of education, music, and art. We will ensure that as little ‘waste’ as possible is generated during this festival. We will cultivate amazing organic produce grown in the WEF garden into tasty, nutritional meals to feed volunteers, staff, & performers, while making it both yummy and educational." | |

"The River City Run, in Old Sacramento, connects the heart of the city with the confluence of two major rivers...The River City Run benefits local sustainable living projects. Since 2005, funds from this event have supported $15,000 in Sustainable Sacramento Grants to thirteen projects. A sustainable Sacramento is vital for the communities future as a desirable, safe, beautiful place to live. Everyone wins!" |
