Okay food. Great service.Definitely maybe might come back.

  2. Capitol Casino

What do you gamble with in life?

I was a little leary about checking this place out. First of all, I don't gamble. And I find many gambling establishments rather seedy. And it's on North B street, for heaven's sake. But there is a restaurant there and the food's not bad. You can even eat outside, although I want you to not expect a lush garden patio kind of experience. And you can, if you choose, try a cocktail in their rather large (and almost cozy feeling) lounge. Then you could sick back and wait for the area to really take off... because it will eventually.

  3. MARRS (Midtown Art, Retail Restaurant Scene)

I think the MARRS project should be a prototype for every retail mixed use project in midtown/downtown Sacramento.

A coffee shop, news stand, art gallery, clothing boutique, a couple sit down restaurant/lounges and a quick bite place.

Great mix of tenants that keeps activity going on all day and night.

Well done, Mike Heller, well done.

  4. Limelight Bar, Café and Card Room

Shuffle-up and Deal, some of Sacramento's Best poker action!
    by xitami

The "slimelight" review is very old. The Limelight is both a bar-pub and poker card room. On the bar-pub side there is cheap drinks and lots of great beer choices, served by a good bar staff, multiple Plasma TVs in the bar area, the same in the cafe, plus an out door patio with a plasma, all great for watching sports or just relaxing with a drink. The food is typical pub fare with low prices $6-$14 and very tasty. The bar on Fri or Sat. is both a locals and college groups hang out. All ages will feel comfortable. The card room is a tight space with 7 or 8 poker tables and 1 Neveda style blackjack table in the cafe. The ambiance feels like an old style cardroom (not like a brightly lit bingo parlorl) Open 24/7 the Limelight features poker tournaments twice a day, limit and no-limit holdem, lo-ball and the best No-Limit Texas Holdem action in Sacramento. The poker room is fairly well run, with fast seating, friendly staff, and the the lowest collection rate $3 in Sacramento (no Jackpot here). The only negative is the parking, there is almost no parking at the limelight. To park use the Safeway - Bank Parking across the street.  The Limelight is NOT a dive, if you are a poker player this is a one card room you must check out.  If you are looking for a beer or drink, and enjoy a friendly bar crowd this is worth the price of a beer.

Pros: Great food/drink, excellent poker action, friendly staff

    Cons: parking, crowded card room

Of Heaven and Earth

Rachel Miller's New Show

Nothing in the world can get me to go out on a Second Saturday, nothing except an exceptionally beautiful and talented woman. That woman is Rachel Miller. She is a stunning character around town, often to be found sweaty and bending, and the imagery that flows through her hands to canvas is as fantastical and vibrant as she is. Tonight, however, it was Rachel who was the axis upon which her art show spun; but the best piece in the room wasn’t something she was showing, it was something

April Second Saturday Debriefing

April Second Saturday Debriefing
If you didn't stop by Coventry this past Saturday, here's what you missed.

Check out our MySpace for photos from April 08 Second Saturday at Coventry.

The warm weather made this last Art Walk a great one to be in Midtown. I had to slip out of the shop to take a walk around town myself, and see all the interesting things that were happening all over the place. I have lived in a few different cities in this country, and I have never seen anything like Second Saturday, anywhere
