  1. Temple Fine Coffee & Tea

    mmm....

I'm new to the area & read about Temple in Midtown magazine. I'm a big fan of tea, my boyfriend coffee, so I got the Earl Grey and he tried the capp. We each thoroughly enjoyed our drinks & the service was cool (they deliver to your table, so no need to fear the awkward spill-zone between the bar and your seat).  The only downside to the experience was that most of the tables were occupied by people zoning out in front of laptops. Where's the fun in that?

I have been here 3 times now and each time for their lunch buffet.  I will not go back for that as the food is generally pretty average.  Also, they offer pizza?
However, some of my closest foodie friends have told me to go here for dinner and to order a la carte is really the way to go.  I will try that in the future as I am a huge fan of Afghan food.
  3. The Broiler

    Dining

I love the Broiler. The first time I went, I was puzzled by what I thought to be slow service. Our waiter must have noticed and told me (with a lot of genuine charm) that his was the kind of restaurant where you go to dine, not eat and leave. I was very impressed by the food, the service, the atmosphere and the experience of eating here. The food was amazing and prepared exactly as ordered. The wait staff is very helpful and attentive (without being overly so).

Good coffee, good food and good atmosphere. They have quality coffee and espresso, with a little of everything, ranging from your basic coffee to more elaborate drinks. They have good eats too, from scones, to sandwiches to dessert. It also is a great place to do work, they have free wifi and tons of tables inside and out to do work on. Its both a wonderful student spot and neighborhood hangout. Most weekends (Thursday-Sunday) they have at least one (or more) event(s), either a band or an open mic. Its really a great addition to the neighborhood!
