  1. Aioli Bodega Española

    Perfect First Date

Having eaten here once already and loved it, I went to Aioli’s on a first date and things couldn't have been any better. With our reservation, we were seated immediately. The bar was very crowded (where I was waiting for my date to arrive) but I still was served a drink within seconds of standing in the crowd. Impressive! After ordering, our food came quickly, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because the atmosphere was so fun. Live Latin Jazz! Everything I tasted was exquisite including the wine. The food was very fresh. We had grilled double breast of chicken with red pepper flakes in a wild mushroom & sweet sherry sauce and garbanzo puree. When we complimented the waiter on the food, he informed us that the food comes daily, always a plus! We ended up going back to Aioli’s on our second date with friends for drinks, and danced to the great music. So much fun, a must in Sacramento. I can't wait to go back again.

  2. Brew It Up! Personal Brewery & Grill

    Good Beer Good Fun

Fun place to go on a date or out with friends on an evening. Good vibe and one of the most diverse menus in all of Sacramento, If you feel like a burger you can get a great one, or salmon on a bed of polenta. And a good drink to wash it down with.

    A Gem in Midtown Sacramento!!!

Very good dinner choice!! The menu includes among others Spanish and Mediterranean specialties. The service is great and the food is delicious. We had Zarzuela de Mariscos, a spicy opera of seafood in a garlic tomato sauce & coca bread, and Atun a las Canarias, seared ahi served rare topped with salsa fresca infused with pimento of espelette. Try to avoid showing up without a reservation, as this place is very popular, or show up early and get a table. I'd say more, but you better go and see for yourself... bon appetite!!!

  4. Formoli's Bistro

The three of us filed into the restaurant and were warmly greeted by Suzanne- wifey of the man that started the joint.  We chose a seat and plopped into chairs relieving our feet of all day work stuff.  The surroundings are dark and cozy and warm with eclectic art for sale on the walls.  She comes up with some bread and olive oil, and let me tell you, this was no ordinary olive oil.  It was olive oil that had been loved and caressed and given head.  We couldn't really decide and the small plates were looking like where it was at, so the 3 of us decided to split 5 small plates for dinner.  Fast forward to the food arriving.  After that the primary conversation consisted of, "MMMMMMM" for about 20 mins.  Their calamari was flawless with flavor and cooked perfectly, yam frites were thin and crisp with a delightful habanero aioli, Ahi was a special treat seared to magnificence and layed over baby greens and avocado mashed.  Scallops were amazing withe a thin crust of flavor and tender and succulent.  Bruschetta was the best I've ever had with crispy/tender bread- cheese and a tomato mix with melon! AWESOME.  To complete the meal we had dessert.  Saffron ice cream and a Spanish creme brulee.  The ice cream was flavorsome and refreshing and the creme brulee was a fun new take on the tradition.
