Coffee, Pastries & Bread

Image

Old Soul is Coming to The Weatherstone.
Starting Saturday March 1st, 2008 Old Soul will be opening a new second location at the Weatherstone coffee shop on 21st Street in Midtown.   Join us at "Old Soul at the Weatherstone" for all the gourmet coffee and food you expect from Old Soul, as well as some exciting new options.

Old Soul Co.
Bakers. Roasters. Artisans

Simply, the name tells the story.
Tim Jordan and Jason Griest have opened a new business (2006), with an old philosophy- to serve a community of independent businesses and neighbors with quality and honesty, providing products made with passion by locals for locals.

In a Rear Alley in the heart of midtown's "gourmet gulch", Old Soul Co. provides roasted coffee and breads to some of Sacramento's finest restaurants, cafes and grocers. The space was designed with community in mind, where "demonstration" roasting and baking is witnessed by clients, prospects and interested neighbors enticed by the enchanting smells of roasting coffee and baking breads. In fact, their warehouse alley location has become somewhat of the neighborhood "speakeasy". Stop by between 6am til 2pm every day for great coffee and baked goods and bread!

Old Soul offers lunch from 11am-2pm Monday through Friday. The menu of soups, quiches, pizza or sandwiches on freshly baked bread changes daily.

Neat place to hang out.

by lofters, Thursday 01 of May, 2008 [06:20:22]
Out of the way place on the alley to go have coffee and a delicious baked good. Watch coffee beans being roasted or baked goods being made. Get a bit warm in there when the weather heats up!

Ouch

by Rags, Wednesday 09 of April, 2008 [04:24:52]

Oh, how I want to like Old Soul.  Unfortunately, they have been a disappointment to me.  All three times I've visited the original Old Soul, then the Weatherstone OS, I paid an absurdly high price for a small, VERY stale sandwich.  I mean...it was BAD.  Sadly, the coffee didn't make up for the horrid sandwich, as the coffee was as stale and "flat" as the sandwich was.  And....the staff seemed confused and lacked confidence.  Sorry, Old Soul.  I'm taking my business to good old Metro (11th & Freeport), Java Lounge, and occasionally to Temple or True Love.

good food, good coffee and good people

Whether you want something sweet or savory, or just want a jolt of caffeine to help you through the day, Old Soul is the place to go. Prices are v. reasonable for the quality of food and beverages served. Just remember to bring cash only! There's been many an occassion when all I've had was my trusty debit card on me so unfortunately had to go to Java City down the street.

bike there for the fresh air, stay for the treats

by kelly_c, Friday 28 of March, 2008 [16:34:59]

old soul is a fabulous find. i had been away from sacramento for some time when i returned this past december and made certain to take a bike ride there for a latte and a treat. you have to get there early if you want one of their delicious croissants (and on this occassion i was too late) but the scones are good too. a down-to-earth business with good product and a friendly atmosphere. i agree with the previous review that it is truly a bright spot in the homogenized world of californian coffee shops.

Coffee and a cupcake please.

I love the fact that I can witness the beans roasted and pastries being made wile enjoying a cup of some of my favorite coffee in town. Old soul has an atmosphere like no other in the midtown area. It is always a good and relaxing time when I'm there.

A Bright Star in a Sea of Sameness

Truly a friendly and caring group, dedicated to great coffees, pastries, and classes!

A bit out of the way, but well worth the effort.  My favorite local source for green coffee beans to roast myself.

I wish I could visit and bring friends daily.

Destined to be a hippster hangout, this place (and the men who own it) whisper sweet-nothings of understated class. From the moment I heard of the location, they had my interest piqued. After hearing tales of their ceaseless search for the best of everything I had to check things out for myself. The art hung on the exposed brick walls, warm leather couches, and light-filled vaulted ceilings makes one want to curl up with a good book for the rest of the day. The artisanal breads and pastry don't make it any easier to leave.

Gem in the Alley

by kiff, Saturday 01 of December, 2007 [17:31:58]
As a certified coffee addict, this is one of my favorite places to get my daily fix. I've been regularly going to their establishment for almost a year now and can't imagine a time when their coffee was not a part of my life. Their espresso is smooth, non-acidic, and without a bitter aftertaste. I love the honor jar system and the fact that when I buy beans to take home my drink is free. While hanging out in their cool warehouse you are surrounded by the tempting aromas of Jason roasting the beans and/or Tim's crew baking their delicious treats (including the yummy vegan muffins that could be my new addiction). Stopping in here on Second Saturday is always a must, not only do they have interesting art, but commonly other local businesses will provide beer, wine, and food to taste. If you have not found this hidden gem in the alley, you must head there right now.

This is one of my favorite places to wake up

by Lindsay, Wednesday 28 of November, 2007 [11:04:04]
Not only is the ambiance stellar in this old brick warehouse, but so is the coffee, the staff and the baked goods that are made right in front of you. Its the source to get those amazing vegan muffins that you can also find at the Co-Op as well as Capital Cupcakes (those gourmet organic cupcakes). Not to mention that the coffee is wonderful- being roasted right in front of you. This is also one of the hot-spots for the Second Saturday Art Walk. Dont miss out on the soul of midtown.

Some of the best coffee in Sacramento

by Administrator, Tuesday 20 of November, 2007 [13:48:24]
Old Soul is down and alleyway, in an old wear house building, but its worth the effort, this is seriously good coffee. The espresso is smooth, with no acidic, bitter after taste at all. They serve all the basics (latte, mocha etc.)with none of the unnecessary frills of big chain coffee shops, and with such a great product they don't need them. Everything is 2 to 3 dollars, from the coffee to the food. And their food is great also, delicious scones, great pizza (veggie and meat) and amazing cupcakes! They have free wifi, so you can sit and do work, as well as meeting with friends. And on Sunday mornings they have live music! Its a great addition to Sacramento, with a little European flare.
delicious! Furl this! digg this! stumbleupon this!
