We get our Nishiki fix just about once a week. We start with a Sake Bomb then place our order of Pepperfin, a fabulous salad we like to call "Sang's salad", and if we're still hungry, it a Zig Zag Hand Roll or something spicey. You can never go wrong at Nishiki. The fish is always fresh and tasty! We sit at the bar with the usual crowd and ham it up with Tony, Steve, and Norm. We always leave with a smile on our face!
tasty rolls, long wait
I was hungry. The kind of hungry that happens when the sun sets on a sweaty summer day where the temperature peaks over 100˚ and then suddenly, a cool breeze and relief from the sun awakens the senses and startles the stomach into realizing there has been no eating in 8 hours. I met a friend for sushi at Nishiki and was not dissapointed.
There was a long wait for a table, longer than was forecasted by the hostess. Once we were seated we received prompt service for the rest of our stay. Our visit focused on rolls and sake. The rice was fresh and nutty and the fish was delicious. I am not as big of a fan of the tempura or fried rolls, they seem to hide the flavor of the ingredients with fluff. This was also the case for this visit. I preferred their simpler rolls, like the Cajun Tuna, that allowed the vegetables, fish, rice and seasoning to be the star. The highly decorated and dressed Golden roll was more of a mish-mash of flavor and fell apart when lifted with chopsticks. Overall, it was tasty and I would return again, but would focus on the fresh and raw.
chefs to spoil you. They serve very fresh and high quality fish. However, if you go and sit inside and have
table service have low expectations. Every time I have been here and sat at the tables I have left upset or
disappointed. Their hot foods have come out cold, slow and not remarkable. So, if you love raw fish, come and sit at the bar, you will not be disappointed.
