About Us
The Bread Store bakes breads and other fine bakery products made only from the finest top-quality ingredients, using no preservatives. When we opened our first store on J Street in 1990, we revived the tradition of neighborhood bakery where the concept of fresh baked bread is measured by the hour, not by the day, reminiscent of European neighborhood bakeries. |
Sandwhiches Galore
The Bread Store makes fantastic sandwhiches. The staff pays special attention to the assembly of each one
the vegetarian sandwhich is always the way to go! They have a great dill sauce they add to it. The staff is friendly
and the music played in the background is a treat. There is a covered outside seating area with great artwork,
that one of the staff members painted.
Pan Dulce
The Bread Store has some of the most delicious pastries availaible in the downtown/midtown area. The prices are a little high and the selection somewhat slim, but overall a great place for a flaky delight.
Kind of a bad thing that live walking distance....
Yum, yum, yummity-yum! I take visitors whenever they are in town and on the return visit I am as always asked, "can we go to the Bread store?" My personal favorites: the basil/fresh mozarella/tomato sandwich, and the panzanella salad :-)
Great Bread!
This place is awesome for any meal of the day. If you get there after 5PM before they close they have all of the bread that is left from that day at half price! You can't be too choosy but what a deal for fresh bakerey bread!
Yea soup!
Ok... I know it's probably just me, but I've been to the Bread Store twice, and each time I've been disappointed with the bread. Weird, huh? The soup is super yummy, though, and worth every penny. It's a sweet place to grab a bite in a hurry, but don't expect too much.
Great Sandwiches on Awesome Bread
The Bread Store is a terrific place for a simple, satisfying sandwich on amazing bread with a delicious accompanying pickle and chips. Affordably priced, and with the option of getting an oversized chocolate chip cookie, The Bread Store's sandwich combinations can also include their homemade soup (I'm partial to their split pea). I love a sandwich made with sprouts, so this hits the spot.
The Bread Store
Aside from there being too much bread to their sandwiches and complaints of the young staff being aloof and rather inattentive to detail, most say the food here is great. The ambiance is bright and easy, there’s a ‘garden’ room and some tables outside, and you can’t Beat the location… But no matter where you go in or out of the Bread Store, you won’t be able to escape the loud music blaring overhead, so peaceful conversation, serene reflection or personal headphones all compete with what the Bread Store wants you to hear (or not to hear). (Not that this is a unique phenomenon around these parts).

Walking into The Bread Store, the smell of fresh bread fills the air along with hot, steamy coffee and teas. The staff is quite friendly as well. Ordering a sandwich is a treat since all of the bread has no preservatives and is baked at The Bread Store, you can order your sandwich with crisp, colorful salads or tasty, homemade soups.
As an added bonus, customers get to help each other out by ringing a bell on the counter whenever you see a meter maid outside; not only helping out the community that forgot to pay for parking but also helping yourself, since you get something special to nibble on from the staff.
There are many locations around Sacramento that get bread delivered from The Bread Store straight to their restaurants. If you want to try some of the best bread in Sacramento, hit The Bread Store and be amazed!
