Sac food Co-op rocks my socks

by Capitan RoRo, Sunday 02 of November, 2008 (11:50:28)
Deli is wonderful!! I love garlic lovers pasta that they make here.  Everyone is always all Zen in there.  Word up to Rita who takes my coffee order every day and Danny in the meat dept.  They have an awesome selection of imported cheeses, plus an amazing greeh chai tea.  I love the tuna, pizza, macaroni n cheese, salad bar, kale stuff, Mexican day... and all the Amy's TV dinners.  Bread selection is awesome and I love their fruits!

Not a place for food allergies sufferers

by elizebeth, Thursday 16 of October, 2008 (15:27:05)

I have food allergies.  I can’t eat wheat and milk.  I also have problems with products that contain yeast.  Despite the fact that the co-op carries wheat free and dairy free items, I DO NOT recommend them as a place for other people with food allergies to shop because we’re not their audience.

If I want the widest selection of wheat, dairy, and yeast free foods I go to Whole Foods.  The co-op chooses what selection of food they carry based on what their board think fits their moral imperative.  Whole Foods carries what people like to buy.  Personally, I’m a consumer looking for the tastiest food, so I shop at Whole Foods.

I love the co-op!  The freshest veggies in town, the best meat/fish counter, and a fabulous deli if you don't feel like cooking.  You can find pretty much everything you need here and you know you're doing a good thing for the environment and yourself.  And it's no more expensive than going to Safeway or some other gross chain market.  The best place to shop in Sac!

I love to shop here for the items I nomally buy and to explore and find new items to try.  In a hurry, try the deli, everything is scrumptious. Eating and being green was never so much fun.

The best place to shop in midtown. It has everything you need as well as a great deli and buffet. Their vegan cookies are also sooo good.

Convenient, decent prices

I am officially addicted to the co-op.  Every time I take my evening commute up 99 and cross over onto Bus-80, I notice the traffic slow down and veer off to the co-op.  They have some of the freshest vegetables I have ever seen!  The variety of produce they have when certain things are in season make every visit interesting... I just want to try everything!  The deli serves great salads and the coffee counter has some decent espresso and great pastries (including muffins from Old Soul - yum!)  They donate five cents to the local charity of your choice if you bring your own bags.  The dry bulk section is good, but would be better with a larger fruit selection.  The natural health section is great too; I can get my favorite sulfate-free shampoo for less than $8, which I was relieved to find.

The convenience of this place could potentially be an inconvenience to my wallet, but since I don't have to waste gas driving to Whole Paycheck anymore, I actually purchase less (therefore wasting less) and SAVE money.
delicious! Furl this! digg this! stumbleupon this!
