Bead Fetish
Description
All of us at the Bead Fetish are excited to be celebrating our 5th year in the center of magical Midtown. We are proud to have been voted "The Best Place to Get Beaded" by Sacramento News and Review. Repeatedly, we're been told that we carry the most diverse selection of beads and jewelry supplies in all of the Sacramento Valley and Foothill areas. Our specialty and pride lies in having a genuinely friendly staff, which welcome and treat our customers as friends. The Bead Fetish also offers a great class schedule, private after-hour parties, a weekly "Count-A-Bead" gift certificate contest, repairs, free advice and lots of fun! Don't forget to join us, as well as The Phoenix Gallery and Zanzibar Imports, on the corner of 18th & L, for "Second Saturday Art Walks". There's always something great going on. Oh, and when you're in the store, say "hello" to MoMe. He's our little Pomeranian angel dog and store mascot. He's got quite a following and is very popular with everyone! What's in Store?... We're constantly adding to our ever growing selection of beads from around the world. Currently we carry Austrian, Czech, Chinese and Egyptian Crystals. We also carry a large variety of glass beads from the Czech Republic, such as seed beads, fire polished and pressed glass in many shapes, sizes and colors. If you're into Semi-Precious stone beads, then you've hit the jackpot, our collection is extensive! The Vintage beads are actually authentic Western German, Japanese and Czechoslovakian, and date anywhere from the turn-of-the-century up to the 1960's or so. Our pewter section features the KF Signature Series" (see picture above) original copy written designs (for more information, see "A Bit of History" below). In the "Natural" section you'll find beads from the Philippines, Africa, India, and China (to name a few), made out of horn, bone, shell, wood, copper, nickel, brass and various nuts and seeds. In other sections you'll find ceramic, cloisonn, India glass, various types of beads from Peru, rhinestone beads and spacers, lots of chain in base metal, beaded chain, and sterling and gold filled beads and findings. Last but not least are all of the supplies, books and tools needed to make anything your heart desires. So if that's not enough, make it a point to stop by, because there's so much more! A Brief Bit of Bead History... In 1990, The Bead Fetish was originally founded in San Rafael, CA, by Scott and Kim Fandry. Over the years it grew to become Marin's premier bead store. In 1997 they sold the shop to pursue a wholesale pewter business, which they started a few years earlier, manufacturing beads and findings. For the next several years, Scott managed production of the pewter foundry. Kim, drawing on a background in jewelry design, created their KF Signature Series" line of original jewelry components (see picture above). Eventually, they licensed out the copy rights on the designs to a leading pewter house. Kim continues to design original pieces which are sold at The Bead Fetish, through major mail order catalogs, bead shops nation wide and internationally. The Move to Midtown... We (Scott & I) have always loved Midtown, even before it became so trendy. In the mid to late 80's we would visit relatives and hang out at Java City on Capitol and 18th. It was in our opinion, the hippest place around and had a real Bohemian feel at the time. So once we decided to open another store, naturally Midtown was the perfect place for us. Ahhh...isn't Midtown grand? Call for information about our classes |

The Bead Fetish is a great place to spend hours looking through all the goodies and trying to decide what not to buy. There's always great classes being taught by fun knowledgeable people at reasonable prices. If you're looking for a new hobby, or to pick up your old one, I suggest the Fetish. Always someone great working there to chat with for ideas and help.

This store has incredible slection and it's easy to get totally lost in time. I spent two hours in there just checking everything out and spending more money than I should have. The service is really good and they have classes to help you get started. I love this place and it's a great location. There are so many cool other shops and restauants all around.
