A Petit More of Paris in Sacramento
Sacramento - Le Petit Paris, a French concept boutique that offers women and children’s
designer apparel, designer handbags and home accent pieces just expanded to also include also include espresso drinks, teas, twelve different flavored Parisian macarons, desserts, pastries and baguette sandwiches.
“We’ve always been inspired by Paris and have dreamed of bringing a bit of Paris home” says
owner, Tassina Placencia, who travels to Paris several times a year to hand-select designer
apparel and accessories, and interesting flea market finds, and also leads walking tours 3-4
times a year.
Le Petit Paris boutique opened nearly three years with just under 1,000 square foot. Their plan was to open the boutique, build a solid client base, and then expand to include a barista bar, similar to those typical in Paris and many European Cities. The boutique and barista bar now have over 2,300 square feet of space. The barista bar was designed by Tassina and Ruben Placencia and carries much of the look and feel of the retail space – large chandeliers, gilded furniture, crushed velvet wallpaper. “Our inspiration”, says Placencia, “are those great Parisian salons like Laduree.” “A place that takes you somewhere else and allows one to escape, just for awhile.” They plan to eventually offer a small beer and wine list, and also plan to offer a small space for live entertainment. “We have an old organ and are encouraging impromptu artists and musicians to practice for tips.” They also have plans for French cinema night. Currently, they project Paris video onto one wall. “The idea”, says Placencia, “is to once again add to the experience.” “If a customer is sitting enjoying a café au lait and pain chocolat, they can watch the Paris footage and feel as if they were looking out a café window in Paris.”
Ruben Placencia, the man behind the coffee, retired from rocket testing at Sacramento Aerojet. “We joke and say it does take a rocket scientist to make the perfect cup of coffee,” says Placencia. “Customers don’t realize the variables- the bean, the grind, the pleasure that make the difference between a perfect cup of coffee and a bitter, over roasted brew.” The Placencia’s live in midtown and have always thought it was the place to be. That is why they decided to invest in their community when selecting a location nearly three years ago. “We couldn’t be happier living and contributing to midtown’s new found success, we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, except for Paris, of course!”
