Sports and Youth Programs The City of Sacramento, Access Leisure offers a variety of adapted sports programs such as wheelchair basketball, wheelchair softball, power soccer, Access Aquatics and even a cheerleading team. We also offer you information on where you can participate in wheelchair tennis, adapted waterskiing, white water rafting, dance, drama, the arts, adapted downhill or cross country snow skiing, and adapted weight training for adults. This affiliation gives our program access to regional and national events for youth teens and adults with physical disabilities as well as connections to Paralympians to attend our sports events as coaches and speakers. We will also receive one free sport wheelchair every year and some funding/grants for our sports camps and special sporting events for people with physical disabilities. Fitness programs include a walking program, bocce, softball, basketball, bowling, swimming, and an annual track & field meet. River Cats Independence Field River Cats Independence Field is a fully-accessible baseball field made of a rubberized surface ideal for players with disabilities that use either manual or power wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or no assistive devices, to "Play Ball"! See also www.rivercatsindependencefield.com . Pannell Meadowview Recreational Pool The Samuel C. Pannell Meadowview Community Center Pool is open February through October. The pool is fully accessible and includes on-site changing rooms. "Aqua Chairs" are available for people that use wheelchairs to transfer into to make entering and exiting the pool a breeze. The pool has a beach (zero) entry. The pool is heated to 80 degrees. There is ample free parking. For those that would like to enjoy one of our pools independently, lifts are also available at Clunie, Doyle, Natomas High School, Oki, and Southside pools. Access Aquatics classes are available at Clunie, Oki, and Doyle pools. To enroll in one our Access Aquatics swim classes, call Beth McKinnie at (916) 808-2308.
