    About Shannon Reagan
I was lucky to grow up having a mother who was a massage therapist.  I was six years old when she was going to massage school, and I was fortunate to be the “guinea pig” for many of her required practice hours. Also, she used massage to calm me when I was upset, and to coax me to sleep at night.  Her keen knowledge of pressure points, combined with her tender touch and the aromas of lavender and marjoram essential oils, worked like a magic spell.

We were living in Ireland at this time, a short-term move that evolved into six years.  There, going to bed without a hot water bottle is unheard of, and so heat was included with every bedtime massage.  The feeling of the warmth radiating through my body, easing uptight muscles into relaxation, is a memory I fondly recall.

A car accident injured my mother's back and changed everything for us, as she became bedridden and no longer able to work.  Reliant on others to relieve her pain, she began to teach people how to help alleviate her pain. As a result, I grew up doing bodywork.

Her struggle with chronic back pain persisted, and eventually she was advised by her doctors to move to a drier climate, where healing could progress.  Sacramento, California, where all of our extended family still lived, was the perfect place.  Living in Sacramento ever since, I graduated from California State University, Sacramento, and enrolled in massage school.

Traveling often during my college career, I was inspired to learn a trade that could travel with me.  Massage, having always been an integral aspect of my life, was a natural direction for me to take.

Because it was obvious that The Healing Arts Institute is the most reputable school in the area, I completed the initial Swedish massage class with its heavy focus on anatomy. The school's flexible program allowed me to select my classes personally, my interests leading me in the direction of hot stone, shiatsu, deep tissue, and soft tissue relief. The hot stones reminded me of the welcomed warmth from my childhood, and shiatsu is great for working over clothing and for maximizing benefits of a chair massage.  Deep tissue and soft tissue release are excellent tools for manipulating the many layers of muscles. My education doesn't stop here, as I continue to enroll in advanced classes.

My goal with every massage is to provide relief and relaxation.  Having created a massage space that will serve as a natural retreat from life and all its chaos, I encourage you to visit, make yourself comfortable, and leave feeling revived.

    Looking forward to meeting you,

    Shannon Reagan

    Euphoric

by Rumbalsa, Friday 22 of August, 2008 [14:00:47]

Shannon is amazing. I have had plenty of massages in my past yet none have left me with such a mellow feeling. I myself battle w/ MS and have been very lucky to have these massages to help me through some pretty achy moments. The stones seem to add a "grounding element" any time my mind wonders off the heat from the stones brings me right back to the table. I encourage you to check it out. It's only 40 bucks to try and well worth it. You'll get hooked.

I had the Swedish massage with stones.  Very relaxing, and felt so loose and energized after. Definitely, I recommend the stones, too!

    Highly recommended!

Shannon was really good: not only skilled and precise, but very interested in figuring out how to help relieve pain and increase mobility. She comes off as very caring and concerned without being overly familiar or gushy.  I agree about the hot stones, too!

    great deep tissue massage

by Karl Alexander, Monday 28 of April, 2008 [19:16:43]

I just recently had a great deep tissue massage from Shannon as a gift from my wife. it was a short walk to her studio on J Street, and after my hour was up i was floating above the pavement all the way back to my office.

her studio is clean, quiet and relaxing. Shannon found my problem spot and worked it out with surprising strength and precision.

    hot tip: do the stones!

delicious! Furl this! digg this! stumbleupon this!
