Celebrate Supporting 18 Years of Children’s Arts Programs in Sacramento at the Chalk It Up! To Sacramento Chalk Art Festival
The Chalk It Up! To Sacramento Board would like to invite you to participate in the 18th Annual Chalk It Up! Chalk Art Festival that will be held Labor Day Weekend – August 30 & 31 and September 1, 2008 – at Fremont Park in Downtown Sacramento on the corner of 15th and P Streets.
Over the past 18 years, CIU has helped fund 500 arts programs for youth in our community. The festival features over 250 sidewalk paintings created at the festival by local artists who donate their time, energy, and talent. These concrete masterpieces are left on the sidewalk for the public to enjoy throughout the month of September.
In addition, this year’s festival will feature nearly 30 of Sacramento’s most notable musical artists and bands performing live on stage near the beer garden supplied by Hoppy Brewing Company and poured by the Sacred City Derby Girls.
Food and craft vendors will be on hand. Children’s chalk areas will be available for free. Community members can try their hand at drawing their own chalk square for a $10.00 donation. And, midtowngrid.com will be providing great raffle prizes from midtown businesses with all proceeds benefiting the children’s art programs supported by Chalk It Up! To Sacramento.

Family Event
This is a great family event. You can spend all day at this park, look at amazing art, buy some food, listen to some music and not break the bank. I have watched this event grow over the years. It has gotten bigger but never lost it's charm. Every year they put out a poster that is worth of being framed and will eventually become a collectable. It is all done locally and totally by volunteers. A great and cheaper alternative to Cal Expo. Always hot, always fun, always good art.

In a gorgeous park setting on a quintessential summer weekend, this festival brings out more colors than a deluxe box of crayons and illuminates concrete better than a fully-lit LightBright screen at night. Offering food, a beer garden, other vendors, a playground and more reasons to walk in circles than any festival ever before. Come, stroll around and soak up the sights!
