Hey there Gridsters,

There's plenty to do today.

This morning, The Grid Guru and family cleaned the alleys of Oak Park with 40 students from Sac Charter High and County YouthWorks, an after school leadership program. We met at 8:30 a.m. at Christian Brothers High School parking lot and broke out in 4 teams of ten plus a few adults in each squad. This effort was a deep cleaning, probably one of the heaviest loads in 3 years from whole backyard fences to tires to illegal dumps. By the end, the kids took a lot of pride.

Many thanks to the Oak Park Weed & Seed for organizing this month's 2nd Saturday Clean-Up Oak Park segment.

Off to Green Sacramento's re-Grand Opening at 20th and H Streets in The Green Building with LJ Urban and Green Built Construction. If you're looking for Obama-inspired art, check out part of the 2nd Saturday art display this evening. With food catered by Dad's Kitchen, Josh Daniels, owner of Green Sacramento, hosted quite the spread.

The Guru and Team Grid then hoofed it over to the garage at 14th and H Streets to pick up brand new A-Frames to launch the 2nd Saturday FREE Shuttle. We placed the signs at 9 RT stops and the corner of 10th and J at Cesar Chavez Park where the SCVB's Grape Escape will breathe into 2nd Saturday Art Walk by 7 p.m.

Speaking of the Grape Escape, Team Grid is off to check out the event and report at a later time. We'll be leading the street team at 6 p.m. and passing out maps of the shuttle route as well as Eat the Grid and Shop the Grid maps.

Happy Father's Day tomorrow. The Guru will be a yoga and then eat at Dad's Kitchen. See you at 2nd Saturday on The Grid. By the way, check out the new night club, Images, at 7th and J Streets. Three entrepreneurs have put some blood, sweat, and tears into their dream.
