Coming and Goings: Sol Collective, Dad's Kitchen, Cafe Milazzo, The Waterboy, and Life on the Grid
Hey there Gridsters,
Excuse the absence, but The Guru was pretty sick with that flu going around Sac. What are the comings and goings? Well, let's stand together first for Estella Sanchez. If you haven't met the folks from Sol Collective, now's your chance to touch their lives.
They lost everything, money, art work, retail, and a piece of their soul. Help them heal by reaching out to them. Some things they will not replace. Works of art are gone; however, they can rebuild. They need a space and they need money for a space. This venture is a beautiful testament to the community of artists we have locally.
Comings: Dad's Kitchen is on the rise. Construction is complete on the new location next door to Freeport Bakery and down the street from Taylor's Market. They've got a massive juice machine ready to roll and tastings begin this first week of spring before opening to the public next week. They will test recipes and the grill. This spot will be a neighborhood hottie and a Sactown treasure. The backyard patio area offers serenity but I'm sure will entertain a few bands shortly. The inside decor is nothing but retro cool with sweetest vinyl seats you've ever seen.
Goings and Comings: While many mourn the loss of Cafe Milazzo, reknowned Waterboy owner and chef Rick Mahan appears ready to launch that long desired breakfast spot making Folsom Boulevard a truly blessed street with a great variety of dining options from The Shack to Hoppy Brewing to El Patron to 33rd Street Bistro.
Rick will be a little busy with his newborn baby for a few months though, so hold your hat on this one as it will have its own timeline to fruition.
Coming Back:
Lastly, one more reminder to be a proactive localist and help breathe new life into the Sol Collective. That's the nature of a collective, the hands and tithes of many.
See you on The Grid.
The Guru
