Much Ado About Sacramento

Hey there Midtowners, Downtowners, and Other Gridsters,

What's your plan this weekend?

On Saturday, we'll be leading a walk from the launch party for  9onF, the first LEED-for-homes certified housing in Sacramento.   There are only 9 units, designed by Sacramento's Ron Vrilakas, available for purchase located at 15th and F Streets near Sandra Dee's.   Food will be available and you can introduce yourself to many of Sacramento's green organizations as a prelude to Green 2nd Saturday and Earth Day Festival in April.

Reduce your carbon footprint in multiple ways with an energy neutral home that puts you square in the middle of Downtown and Midtown.  You can walk to work or ride a bike to your favorite restaurant, shop, or salon.   The Mayor will attend a green press conference.   Ask her what it means to be a Green City?

There will even be an Old Soul Bake Sale and lots of food from local restaurants like Sampino's Towne Foods, Sandra Dee's, Brew It Up Brewery, and more.

Join us for our first Green the Grid Eco-Walking Tour with midtowngrid.com, the Environmental Council of Sacramento, The Tree Foundation, and The Loft Gardener at 1 p.m.

That night, our street team will be out and about combing the galleries of Sacramento handing out drawing tickets to win prizes from Central City businesses to celebrate our site re-launch.   Make sure to run into them.

Walk? What walk?

Guru - I've seen little promotion or advertising of this event - I think this announcement is the first I've seen of it in the public domain. The Guru blog space is overshadowed by ads and coupons that it really doesn't grab one's attention and say "read me!"

The new site is a bit harder to get around that the last one, and takes much longer to load. And the design, regrettably, is uninspiring. In short, it's a bit much. I like the simplicity and elegance of the last one- I think it reflected midtown culture better. Just my 2 cents.
