Moving Forward -The New Web Site

Hey there Midtowners, Downtowners, and Other Gridsters,

Welcome to our new reality as we leap into a deeper social space.   All the tools are integrated into our new software, internally designed.   The evolution will not stop; it's just getting started, so share your ideas and if you have the skills to contribute, contact us today--seriously!

On that note, I want to put a shout out to two key figures in bringing midtowngrid.com to this stage.   Our Chief of Technology, Nick Palmer, a Sacramentan working on his PhD in computer science at the University of Amsterdam, has become one of the world's Gurus in BitWeaver, the content management system in which we are coded.   At present, he works to write a book on BitWeaver.   Julia Seebach, our founder, and miracle worker on the web, not only has carried us with her graphic design and hand-coded 800-page site, but also has lead the transformation with Nick to make this process more seamless and dynamic.

The feature sets from blogs to boards, tags to search, calendar to personal profiles, and of course, your reviews, are linked to your single password registration.   We have retooled profiles of small business members and integrated coupons dynamically to rotate throughout the site to inspire you to vote with your dollar.   Additionally, we reshape content into specific scenes if you're looking to Eat the Grid, Shop the Grid, Green the Grid, and more.

Everything is free, because this is our community and midtowngrid.com only seeks to strengthen it by lowering the bar of 1 degree of separation, ultimately streamlining and refining it into an intelligent social power.  That power could retool our city's local democracy and already has strengthened our local economy by tying together over 200 locally owned businesses and another 100 artists, nonprofits, and social entrepreneurs.   We continue to pound the pavement to grow this community.

Join us in imagining the shape of our backyard, this lovely tree-filled city, still our canvas waiting to be painted by you.  How can we help you more?

Over this next month, you will have many chances to run into us and we would love to meet you.  Tell us what you want and we'll get there together.

With great admiration for our community,  thank you for your support of our work.   We will need your help to find any bugs or errors in the new system.  Please report them to bugs@midtowngrid.com.

Have a phenomenal first week of March.

The Grid Guru and the Whole Team at midtowngrid.com
