So it seems that the eco-friendlier electric Zap Car that LJ Urban invested in might be a great road for all of us on The Grid to travel.

Here are 4 steps to a healthier air district on The Grid!

1. Walk more - Let’s create a campaign to celebrate 2nd Saturday Art Walk and our artists everyday by adding public art gardens throughout Midtown, Downtown, East Sacramento, and Broadway. We could transform The Grid into the largest walkable, urban, public park and add several green spaces, small and large, along the way. By turning the streets into a gallery, starting at 18th between L and Capitol Avenue, we would make it fun to go from one place to the next for the human mind.
2. Cycle more - Although most of us will never ride in the Tour of California that arrives in Sacramento tomorrow, we should all become more comfortable on a bike. Bicycles make perfect sense on our flat landscape. On Capitol Public Radio Science Friday, the host mentioned that a team of researchers in Kansas won an IgNobel Prize for proving that Kansas indeed is flatter than a pancake. Hello, Sac State and U.C. Davis, let’s get on this one.

3. Extend trolley buses from Downtown throughout the Central City, including Broadway, and make them run on biodiesel, like the leftover oil from all of our restaurants and especially fast food joints, since Sactown was voted one of the easiest places to find fast food.

4. Lastly, let’s invest in these $9,000 little grid cars instead of monster SUV’s that do not even fit into a Midtown lane and that most people are inadequately trained to drive, especially with cel phone in hand or on ear.
